Palm Beach County, FL – The Palm Beach County Library System is celebrating a double victory for its newly reimagined Bookmobile. The innovative vehicle wrap and marketing strategy recently captured a prestigious international Grand Award from the APEX Awards for Publication Excellence, as well as a regional Bernays Award from the Gold Coast PR Council. Together, these accolades recognize the Library’s success in turning a standard community service vehicle into an unmistakable, high-impact brand ambassador.
International Recognition: The APEX Grand Award for Design & Illustration: Best Redesigns
The APEX Awards, is an annual international competition recognizing outstanding achievement in communications, publishing, marketing and graphic design that started in 1988. Winning a Grand Award is highly competitive; out of more than 1,000 global entries submitted annually, only 9% to 10% receive this highest tier of honor. These awards are reserved for entries showing exceptional innovation, strategic depth and high-quality storytelling. The judging panel noted, "The new wrap uses bold colors and the Library’s official brand identity to establish a clear presence. The addition of the mascot, Dewey, creates a playful and consistent connection for young readers, ensuring the Bookmobile is instantly recognized as a Library resource."
Regional Excellence: The 20th Annual Bernays Award for Best Marketing Material – Print
Closer to home, the Bookmobile Rebrand clinched top honors at the 20th Annual Bernays Awards, hosted by the Gold Coast PR Council (GCPRC). Founded in 2002, the GCPRC is South Florida’s largest independent association of public relations, communications and marketing professionals. These awards recognize South Florida organizations whose work exemplifies building trust, strengthening communities and creating meaningful connections. A Rolling Ambassador for the Library, the award-winning redesign successfully separates the Bookmobile from standard public transit, making essential community services more accessible and inviting. The vehicle serves as a vibrant, rolling invitation for residents of all ages to explore the Library’s resources. As mobile extension of the Library, it delivers vital resources directly into neighborhoods and ensures that geographic barriers do not limit connection.
"This double recognition highlights our deep commitment to the core values of community, service and access," said Library Director Douglas Crane. "Our Bookmobile is a rolling symbol of service. By transforming this vehicle into an inviting and recognizable brand ambassador, we are strengthening our role as a trusted community hub that opens minds to a world of unlimited possibilities.”
