Rediscover Reading: Unearth a Story

Rediscover Reading: Unearth a Story This Summer

Summer invites curiosity. Longer days and school breaks create opportunities to explore new ideas, discover new authors and build lifelong reading habits. This year’s Rediscover Reading theme, Unearth a Story, celebrates discovery and imagination while connecting with the Palm Beach County Library System’s Summer Reading program and its dinosaur-themed adventures.

Dinosaurs continue to capture the imagination because they combine storytelling with science, history and exploration. Books about fossils, prehistoric animals and ancient landscapes encourage readers to picture a world far different from our own. Fiction and adventure stories inspired by dinosaurs add another layer of excitement, blending learning with creativity and wonder.

The Summer Reading program encourages readers of all ages to embrace that sense of discovery. Children, teens and adults can track their reading throughout the summer while exploring books, attending programs and discovering new interests. The initiative supports literacy development for younger readers while reminding adults that reading remains a lifelong source of curiosity and enjoyment.

Libraries make these discoveries accessible through a wide range of collections and services. Shelves are filled with children’s nonfiction titles, illustrated guides and engaging novels that bring prehistoric worlds to life. Digital services, including CloudLibrary, allow readers to borrow e-books and audiobooks instantly, making it easy to continue reading at home or while traveling. Educational databases and documentaries also offer opportunities to explore science topics in greater depth and encourage questions about the natural world.

Use Digital Library Resources

E-books, audiobooks and educational databases make it easy to discover new topics anytime. These resources allow readers to continue exploring stories whether at home, on the go or relaxing during summer break.
