Canyon Branch Teen Advisory Board Presents: Create Your Own Book Cover Contest 2026!

Create Your Own Book Cover Contest!

Do you love to draw? Got a great idea for creating your own book cover? This is your moment to shine!

The Canyon Branch Library invites all young artists, ages 6 to 18, to enter our second annual Book Cover Contest—open to both in-person and online submissions. Submissions will be accepted from July 1 through Aug. 1, 2026.

This contest was requested during one of our Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meetings, where teens at the Canyon Branch gather to plan events, share ideas and make the library a more awesome place for everyone. Our teens are proud to lead this creative challenge.

Contest Categories

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

Ages 6–12

  • Digital Artwork
  • Physical Artwork

Ages 13–18

  • Digital Artwork
  • Physical Artwork

That’s four total categories and 12 total winners (first, second and third place in each).

Rules and Expectations

You can design the cover of any book! Create your own story, redesign an existing title, or a combination of both.

To keep this a safe and respectful space for all library members, all entries must follow these guidelines:

  • No inappropriate or suggestive content
  • No foul language or political messages
  • No illegal or copyrighted images
  • No triggering or explicit imagery

How to Enter

In Person

Bring your physical artwork to the Children’s Desk at the Canyon Branch Library. A staff member will give you an entry form to fill out with your information.

Online

Email a digital copy of your artwork to cancats@pbclibrary.org. Be sure to include:

  • Title of your artwork
  • Your full name and age
  • Preferred method of contact (phone number or email)
  • Parent/guardian’s name and contact information
  • Whether you want your name shared with your artwork
  • Confirmation if the artwork was created with the use of AI

Voting and Judging

In-person voting will take place from Aug. 10 through Aug. 31, 2026, at the Canyon Branch Library.

Library members will be able to collect a ballot from the staff at the Children’s Desk in order to vote on their favorite book cover. All entries will be evaluated based on creativity, effort, public vote and overall design.

After member voting ends, a panel of judges consisting of staff and teen volunteers will hold an evaluation meeting to select the top three winners in each category.
