Schoolhouse Children’s Museum and Palm Beach County Library System Partner to Provide STEAM Programming for Children

Schoolhouse Children's Museum (2025) - All You Need to Know BEFORE You Go (with Reviews)

The Schoolhouse Children’s Museum and the Palm Beach County Library System are thrilled to announce a new partnership delivering signature early childhood programming directly to communities throughout Palm Beach County. This exciting collaboration expands access to the museum’s hands-on, play-based educational experiences rooted in literacy, science and the arts.

The Schoolhouse Children’s Museum is a nonprofit cultural institution dedicated to engaging young children and their families in playful discovery through hands-on exhibits, enrichment classes and special events. Located in the historic 1913 Boynton Elementary School, the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum has been a treasured community institution welcoming thousands of patrons since 2001. Built as one of the city of Boynton Beach’s first schools, the museum celebrates South Florida’s history while providing innovative programs designed to inspire the next generation of thinkers, creators and dreamers.

Starting in August, this new initiative will bring the museum’s enriching educational programming into the library’s spaces across the county. Children ages 8 and under will explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) concepts, boosting early literacy skills. These programs allow children to engage in creative expression through dynamic, interactive activities that align with state standards and foster school readiness.

“We’re always looking for ways to meet families where they are,” said Miriam Naranjo, executive director of the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum. “Libraries are trusted community hubs, and this partnership allows us to make high-quality, playful learning opportunities more accessible to more children, especially those who may not be able to visit us in person.”

The Palm Beach County Library System has a vision to open minds to a world of unlimited possibilities. The library achieves this vision through its mission: connect communities, inspire thought and enrich lives. This includes continuing to explore new ways to serve the residents of Palm Beach County, while still retaining a personal connection when they walk through the library doors. By partnering with the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum, both entities are making strides in supporting and educating the children of Palm Beach County.

Library Director Douglas Crane said, “By collaborating, the Palm Beach County Library System and the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum are creating an unparalleled ecosystem for early learning. This alliance further transforms education from passive reception into dynamic exploration. The museum’s programs provide young children with a critical head start by nurturing curiosity, fostering literacy and igniting a lifelong love of discovery through hands-on engagement."

Programs will vary by location but may include science labs, story times with a literacy focus and art exploration activities designed to promote curiosity and confidence. The outreach program aligns with the museum’s mission to engage young children in meaningful learning through hands-on experiences and community partnerships.
