About the Belle Glade Branch
The Belle Glade Branch was started by the Belle Glade Women's Club in 1926 in a hotel lobby and later taken over by the City of Belle Glade where a 9,000 square foot facility was opened on Main Street in 1967. The Library was taken over by the County on October 1, 1986. A new 17,000 square foot library and city Civic Center facility was opened in 2013. In addition to a small local history collection, the branch features several "Art in Public Places" pieces and hosts a variety of activities for adults, teens and children. It also serves as a geographical library hub for Western Palm Beach County.
The Belle Glade Branch is also home to the Glades Area Literacy Project whose mission is to offer adults assistance with reading, writing or speaking English. Materials are provided for free and lessons are designed to meet individual’s goals. For more information, contact Shelsea Estiverne at (561) 681-4074 or estivernes@pbclibrary.org.
