Palm Beach County Library System is seeking friendly, customer-oriented staff. We are a busy, fully automated, southeastern Florida library system serving a population of 865,541 with a Main Library, 16 branches, and Outreach Services with 450 employees. To apply for open positions, you may:

    DESCRIPTION: Supervises the circulation staff/desk/activities. Conducts SIRSI computer program staff training; resolves inquiries/complaints concerning the circulation of materials; directs the maintenance/arrangement of library materials. Orders leased materials for the popular collection; oversees/troubleshoots automated materials handling equipment. Trains/supervises paraprofessionals to provide readers' advisory assistance to patrons; ensures facilities are in order; works with other section/area circulation supervisors to provide quality customer service.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree; minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a library, including six (6) months of supervisory experience. Equivalency: Associate's Degree OR two (2) years of college-level course work (must specify 60-semester/90-quarter hours) and four (4) years of related experience, including six (6) months of supervisory experience.

    OTHER: Ability to lift 50 pounds preferred. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.

    PREFERENCE OF EXPERIENCE: Resolving library related inquiries/complaints in person and over the telephone; training personnel; delivering oral presentations/public speaking; working in library circulation/bookstore; using SIRSI/an online automated circulation system, materials handling equipment (must specify on application).
