***UNICORN**WORKFLOWS SEARCHING ** UNICORN***
Our PCs are set to BROWSE. When would
we use SEARCH?
I can't find a McNaughton title. What should I do?
How do I find a series? Or a character in a novel?
SEARCH is an automatic keyword search
and it is the only way to find a title in Unicorn that was just
cataloged (McNaughton, for example). BROWSE results in a standard
alphabetic display.
SEARCH if you know only a part of a
title or series, or want to find a title in a specific format.
Set radio button to SEARCH and from
the drop down menu:
• Select TITLE when trying to locate
a title in a particular format, such as a book on CD or DVD:
2nd chance and sound Cold mountain and DVD
• Select GENERAL when you don't know
the first word of a title, series or subject:
"Murder Club" will retrieve all the books in James Patterson's
series, Women's Murder Club
BROWSE when you know the first word
in the title, subject or series.
Set radio button to BROWSE and from
the drop down menu:
• Select SERIES to find titles within
a specific series: "Women" lists all series beginning with
that word
• Select SUBJECT to find main
characters in novels: "Delaware" lists all subjects beginning
with that term including those from Jonathan Kellerman's books
Unicorn offers many different search
options. If you've tried your search in BROWSE without finding what
you want, give SEARCH a try. Good luck and good hunting!
