The Life and Times of Zora Neale Hurston
Zora
Neale Hurston, beloved author of Their Eyes Were Watching God,
is considered a literary treasure of Florida. In a lively and
fast-paced one-woman show, actress Bhetty Waldron brings to life
the story of this fascinating writer and folklorist. She
highlights the defining moments of Ms. Hurston's life in an
abbreviated version of her stage production. Following this
45-minute performance, the audience will have the unique
opportunity of participating in a question and answer session
with the actress.
Ms. Waldron, who has extensive acting experience on stage and
screen, has previously appeared in such television shows as
"Miami Vice", "Good Times", "All in the Family", and "The
Jeffersons". Her work in the theatre includes another one-woman
show she created called "Charcoal Sketches" and work with the
Florida Shakespeare Festival of Miami. Currently, Ms. Waldron is
busy presenting her performance of "Loquacious & Bodacious" in
support of Palm Beach County's Read Together initiative, and the
subsequent interest it has generated in Zora Neale Hurston and
her works. With this show, Ms. Waldron is committed to keeping
the legacy and life of this fascinating and prolific author
alive for future generations.
