In honor of National Volunteer Week, the Palm Beach County Library System hosted the 14th Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon "Wild about You" at the Hilton Hotel in West Palm Beach. Palm Beach County Library System paid tribute to over 1000 library volunteers and literacy tutors who contributed over 31,000 hours to help further the mission and goals of the library in 2006-2007 fiscal year.
Volunteers Christopher Howard, West Atlantic Branch, and Carol Ghirardini, Wellington Branch, were selected for Outstanding Volunteers of the year. A Special Service Award was presented to Barbara Bixon, of the West Boynton Branch. Five and Ten year Length of Service Awards were also presented. John J. Callahan III, Director, Regis Wenham, Chair, Library Advisory Board, and Betty Bell, President, Friends of the Library, congratulated them on their achievements. Ann Nelson, Volunteer Coordinator and Kathleen Murphy, Adult Literacy Coordinator, thanked them for their efforts and continued service to the Library system. |
