A poignant story about two
families shadowed by a life-altering lie, past memories, and
longing and love is the focus of the 2008 Read Together, One
Book One Community campaign. Readers throughout the county chose
The Memory Keeper's Daughter as the book that everyone is
invited to read during the month of April.
This debut novel by Kim Edwards, author of the short-story
collection,
The Secrets of a Fire King, reads like a photo
album rich with the memories, heartaches, and joys of two
families which, over the span of several decades, come to live
disparate lives because of a terrible secret. With compassion
and tenderness, Edwards takes on such subjects as Down’s
Syndrome, grief, and the value of truth to the human condition
in this book club favorite.
The Palm Beach County Library System will join other libraries,
bookstores, book clubs, and community groups in offering book
discussions and related programs throughout the month. Call the
location of your choice to preregister for a book discussion.
