Meet the Author: Nancy J. Cohen |
|
Nancy J. Cohen, bestselling author of the Bad Hair Day mystery series and several stand-alone romance novels, will be appearing at the Wellington Library on Saturday, July 18 at 2 p.m. A book signing will follow. Preregister.
Nancy J. Cohen has published nine novels in the Bad Hair Day mystery series featuring likeable amateur sleuth Marla Shore, who happens to be a beauty salon owner and hairdresser. Previously, Cohen published four stand-alone futuristic romance novels written under the name Nancy Cane. Her latest book, “Killer Knots” (2007), finds the sassy and stylish beautician Marla on a cruise with her fiancé to meet his family. While getting to know one another, they find themselves in the midst of a murder mystery on the high seas. This vacation mystery is recommended by “Publishers Weekly” as a “light whodunit.”
Cohen spins her puzzling mysteries in a comfortable, yet offbeat vein, and the addition of Marla’s romantic adventures is delicious icing on the cake. Warm and easy to identify with, Marla is an irresistible creation for readers of “cozy” mysteries.
Before becoming a full-time writer, Cohen was a clinical nurse specialist. Her first novel “Circle of Light” won the Holt Medallion Award in the paranormal category. She has served as President of Florida Romance Writers and as Secretary for the Mystery Writers of America, Florida Chapter.
Nancy J. Cohen told “Contemporary Authors Online”: “For the Bad Hair Day Mysteries, I am able to enhance my books further by using a South Florida setting. I hope to get across to readers the pleasure of living in the semi-tropics. Thus, I emphasize the positive attractions of this locale. Research gives me an excuse to visit some unique Florida towns and write them into my books, as well as to deal with important local issues, such as child drowning prevention and melanoma detection.” |

About Killer Knots:
Florida hairstylist Marla Shore puts down her curling iron and picks up her sleuthing skills when she books passage on a cruise ship to the Caribbean. She’s looking forward to a romantic interlude with her fiancé, Dalton Vail. Too bad Dalton’s teenage daughter and his parents come along for the ride. Instead of a seduction at sea, Marla meets the in-laws and prays that nothing will go wrong.
Troubled waters lie dead ahead when her dinner companions start disappearing one-by-one. Then Marla learns a killer is along for the ride. Onboard art auctions, ports of call, and sumptuous buffets beckon, but she ignores temptation and musters her snooping skills to expose the culprit. She’d better find him fast, before her next shore excursion turns into a trip to Davy Jones’s locker.
