We
love to curl up in a comfy chair with a good book, a cup of tea,
and get lost in an exciting “whodunit.” Will the detective be
able to find the killer before he or she kills again, or will
the reader be able to identify the killer before the book ends?
Why not get lost in a world of crime and suspense and try one of
the following mysteries available at your local library?
Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death by M.C. Beaton. This
series takes place in the Cotswold Hills of England and features
Agatha, a quirky private investigator, who drinks and smokes too
much and always has the misfortune of finding dead bodies. Her
misfortune also involves a cast of strange friends who show up
in all her stories. A cozy, enjoyable, fun read.
Cocaine Blues by Kerry Greenwood. This series takes place in
Australia during the 1920s and features Phryne Fisher, a female
sleuth. The appealing characters and witty banter make for an
enjoyable caper.
In This Rain by S. J. Rozan. Sent to prison for a crime he
did not commit, ex-con Joe Cole, is thus drawn into New York
City's dark underbelly following a woman's murder and a young
man's death.
Killing Moon by Chuck Hogan. This disturbing thriller reveals
the dark underside of a small Massachusetts town, while
implicating some of its citizens and its police force.
These and other fabulously entertaining and bloodcurdling reads
