May is National Mental Health Month |
By Rachel Mick, Community Health Information Services Manager and Donna Marie Smith, Systemwide Adult Programming Coordinator |
National Mental Health Month began in 1949 by Mental Health America, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting mental health and wellness. In an effort to bring awareness to our community of the importance of recognizing and getting help for mental health problems, various locations throughout the Palm Beach County Library System will showcase engaging talks by Palm Beach Post columnist Christine Stapleton and informational displays.
|
Christine Stapleton Talks:
The Community Health Information Service will host Christine Stapleton, Palm Beach Post journalist and writer of the award-winning syndicated column “Kicking Depression,” who’ll talk about depression, drawing insights from her own battle with mental illness. (60 min.) Preregister.

Displays:
Special book displays with free brochures, pamphlets, and other information from mental health organizations will be at the Main Library, the West Boynton Branch, the West Boca Branch, and the Hagen Ranch Road Branch during the month of May. Visit these and other Palm Beach County Library System locations to check out books that provide more information. For free, personalized and confidential assistance, call or email the Community Health Information Services to help you find more information about mental health wellness.
