Journey back in time to Cross Creek, Fla., in the 1930s and 1940s. In a one-woman show, Karen De Vos, a retired teacher and school librarian, transforms herself into the beloved author and Pulitzer-Prize winner of “The Yearling” during the heyday of her writing career. Vintage clothes, props, and a slide show add authentic touches to the portrayal of Rawlings’ life and provide a glimpse into how the natural beauty and the colorful “Cracker” culture of northern Florida influenced her literary works.
