The Main Library, located at 3650 Summit Blvd., West Palm Beach, closed on September 12 at 5 p.m., for renovations. The nine-month project includes paint, carpet, relocating the Information Desk and the Teen area, reconfiguring the Circulation Workroom, and adding a restroom in the Children’s area. The air conditioning and portions of the roof will be replaced.
Some of the materials and special services available only at the Main Library will be temporarily located at the Lantana Road Branch. For more information about these services, please call 561-233-2600.
Main Library patrons are encouraged to use the nearby Palm Beach County Library System (PBCLS) locations: Lantana Road Branch (4020 Lantana Rd., Lake Worth), Wellington Branch (1951 Royal Fern Dr., Wellington) or the Okeechobee Blvd. Branch (5689 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach).
Administrative functions will operate from the Summit Blvd. facility while the public portion of the building is closed for renovations.
With a PBCLS library card patrons may check out and return materials to any of the other open 14 branches (Greenacres Branch is also closed for renovations).
Patrons may also visit the library’s web site (www.pbclibrary.org) to check their account, reserve a book, read daily newspapers, access electronic databases, and view programming information.
The $2.2 million renovation is the thirteenth project in the Library Expansion Program (LEP) II since 2006. Funding for the LEP II comes from a $55 million Bond Referendum approved by voters in 2002. |
