Friends of the Library Team Buzz into Fifth Place at Great Grown-Up Spelling Bee

 After buzzing through difficult words like “nachtmusik” and “langlauf”, the Friends of the Palm Beach County Library System team was stung by the equally difficult word “issei” at the Great Grown-Up Spelling Bee held last Thursday evening at the Harriet Himmel Theater at City Place.  The team, which was sponsored by the Friends of the Library, featured Annmarie Campbell and Amanda Bosky of the Wellington Branch, Aramis Troche of the Greenacres Branch, and Amanda Woolf (alternate) of the Main Library. 

After a tense spell-off between the final two remaining teams, Palm Beach Community College and Florida Atlantic University, the PBCC team bested their fellow educators and were declared the 2008 champions. The annual spelling bee benefits the programs of the Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition.

Thanks to the team for their dedication and hard work and to all the staff members who came out to support their colleagues during this fun event.

Test your spelling prowess, have fun, and support literacy in your community. Cheer on the Friends of the Palm Beach County Library System’s team as they compete at the Great Grown- Up Spelling Bee on Thursday, September 18, at 6:00 p.m. at the Harriet Himmel Theater at City Place.

The team, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, features skillful staff spellers Aramis Troche of the Greenacres Branch, Amanda Bosky and Annmarie Campbell of the Wellington Branch, and Amanda Woolf of the Main Library.
