Glades Literacy
Recognition Dinner

The Palm Beach
County Library System's Adult Literacy Project held its Annual
Literacy Recognition Dinner for the Glades program on May 10.
Approximately 90 people attended with representatives from the
Library Advisory Board, the Friends of the Library, the Library
Literacy Friends, library staff, tutors, and students and their
family and friends. |

The keynote speaker
was Alvin L. Peete, a learner leader for the Literacy Project
who is also a member of the Library Literacy Friends Board. Mr.
Peete spoke about how the literacy program has improved the
quality of his life both personally and with his career. |

|
Three students,
Frances Moore, Guissella Obando, and Tannica Bradley, read essays
that they had written. The essays entitled "My Greatest
Accomplishments in Life have Been ." highlighted the different
experiences of each adult learner while inspiring those in
attendance to continue their advocacy for adult literacy in the
Glades and in Palm Beach County. |

Awards were given
for the achievements of students and tutor teams and dinner was
served and enjoyed by all. |
