Genealogical Society Library Moves
into the Main Library

The Palm Beach County Genealogical Society Library opened at its new location in the Main Library on February 15. Incorporated in 1966 as a non-profit educational institution, the Society and its library was formerly housed in the West Palm Beach City Library downtown. Their collection is extensive, in excess of 12,000 books and periodicals, and includes The Palm Beach Post death indexes and family histories.

* Hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
* The library is staffed by volunteers who provide instruction and assist people with their research.
* E-mail contact is ancestry@pbcgensoc.org  and their phone number is 561-616-3455.

The Genealogical Society will increase the resources, programs and services available to the public at no cost to the Palm Beach County Library System. Genealogy research is one of the hottest hobbies in the U.S. and the Genealogy Research service already provided by our Government Research Service team at Main Library has been very popular.   With the addition of the Genealogical Society's library, we will be able to expand and serve more clientele with this much-wanted service.

A digital listing of print and microfilm research resources available at the new PBC Genealogical Society Library is found on their web site www.pbcgs.org. Their holdings include a bound Palm Beach Post Index to Obituaries, 1980-86
