Celebrate the Spring Festival:
The Chinese New Year @ Your Library

The Chinese New Year always falls on the first day of spring according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar. In 2008, the New Year starts on February 7. During this time the Chinese people will be busy cleaning their houses and shopping for a big feast on New Year’s Eve.

If you know a Chinese friend or love Chinese food and culture, treat your friend or yourself with a delicious stir-fry or a homemade dish of Chinese dumplings. No idea how to cook them? Come to the library! A brand new edition of Simple Chinese Cooking is sitting right on the shelf waiting for you to check out. Interested in making your own Dim Sum? Pick up your phone and reserve a copy of Dim Sum, the art of Chinese tea lunch  Miss the flavors from Chinatown, get to our online web catalog and reserve a Martin Yan's Chinatown Cooking: 200 Traditional recipes from 11 Chinatowns Around the World

Love Chinese art? Chinese Watercolor Techniques will surely keep your busy for a while.

Want to surprise your friend with a new talent? Immerse yourself in Chinese Calligraphy made easy and I am sure your friends will take a second look at you!

Having said all that, I guess you can’t wait to actually go to China and experience all these wonderful things by yourself. Check out a Fodor's China and make sure you pick up a couple of Chinese sentences in Beginner's Chinese: An Easy Introduction to make your trip more fun.

Last but not least, you also have two references librarians at
West Boynton Branch and West Atlantic Avenue Branch that speak standard Mandarin Chinese if you need any help. We are only a phone call away!
