3M Cloud Library Starting May 6
The Palm Beach County Library System expands eBook services with the addition of the 3M Cloud Library on May 6.
The 3M Cloud Library service takes a streamlined approach to eBook lending, simplifying the checkout and transfer processes through the use of the 3M Cloud Library app. To begin reading, you simply download the app, enter your library card number and select the titles of your choice from the collection. Distribution agreements between 3M and publishers, this new service offers eBook titles not available through our current eBook service, OverDrive.
The 3M Cloud Library app will be available May 6, 2013 for download from the iTunes Store, Google Play, and the NOOK Apps Storefront, and the service’s e-books are compatible with PCs, iPads, iPhones, iPod Touch, NOOK Tablets, Android devices, and Kobo, Sony and NOOK e-readers. Using these devices, you can browse, check out and read e-books all without leaving the 3M Cloud Library app. The service is not compatible with most Kindle models, but Kindle Fire users may opt to sideload the Android version of the 3M Cloud Library app to their devices.
3M first launched its Cloud Library eLending system in early 2012 with the St. Paul Public Library in Missouri. The Palm Beach County Library joins over 80 library systems across the country that now offer the 3M Cloud Library, including libraries in Michigan, Colorado, New York and North Carolina.
