 Story Time Sign-ups

A line forms for story time registration and a children's tour takes over the library!  Wellington continues to grow and growth is reflected in the increased use of the library by our residents.  Children's story times , the Summer Reading Program and other children's programming are always a big draw in our community.  We look forward to our expansion to serve all of our area patrons and friends.  When you see a line, it usually means there's something fun going on at the library!

 Winter Photos from Wellington

Wellington branch has been busy this winter.  Our Certified Florida Garden is flourishing under the watchful eye of the Wellington Garden Club.  We also hosted our first Chess tournament for kids.  A fun time was had by all.

Miniature Horses at Wellington

Patrons and staff of the Wellington Branch Library were charmed by miniature horses on Saturday September 6. Tony and Nancy Lopes brought several of their registered miniature horses to the branch for a demonstration and to answer questions. The side lawn of the library was filled with over 100 spectators as the little horses jumped and posed for pictures. The Lopes family raises and also shows these unique little horses. The miniature horses are small in stature but big in heart. According to Tony Lopes they make wonderful pets. Everyone enjoyed meeting these special horses.

Wellington Chess Club

Young aspiring chess masters came to Wellington Branch Library on Thursday July 13 to kick off this new weekly event. Seated at a long table, girls and boys aged 8-14 had fun learning a variety of strategic moves and game protocol from seasoned chess instructor Howard Schoen who leads a similar program at the West Boynton Branch. As eight simultaneous matches got underway, Mr. Schoen observed the progress of the play and instructed the players on making better moves, including bringing pieces out early and castling. Everyone wanted to win, but even those who didn't win came away with new tactics and high hopes for next week's games. This program is very popular and registration is currently full, but anyone interested in joining is welcome to check back in the future.
