On Broadway: An Evening of Music and
Song |

We celebrated National Library Week with a musical treat as a
trio of students from the Dreyfoos School of the Performing Arts razzle-dazzled
us with songs from Broadway’s best.

Hootenanny |

On Saturday, March 12,
a huge crowd joined Dewey the Library Owl for an introduction to Carl Hiaasen’s
book “Hoot.” They also enjoyed an environmental program with live owls from
Busch Wildlife Sanctuary. The kids got to create bird feeders,
mini-owlets, and other wonderful avian projects. |

Jefferson Davis Jazz Band |
|
The Jefferson Davis Jazz Band made their annual
visit to the Main Library on Thursday, December 9. The band played classic
tunes and a holiday favorites. Joining them for a reading of "How the
Grinch Stole Christmas" was Library Director Jerry Brownlee. |

Friends Big Book Bonanza |
|
Our rescheduled book sale was a huge hit. Hundreds of
books, CD, and videos were sold with proceeds going to the Friends of the
Library. |

Florida Panthers Hockey Day |
|
The Solid Waste Authority held a special event in our parking lot
on Wednesday, July 14th. They partnered with the Florida Panthers hockey team to
offer a chance to meet the mascot, play at an inflatable slap shot game and try
the recycle toss game. They also offered the opportunity to shop for SWA carts,
bins, and crushers. |
