The Palm Beach County Library System Librarian Stacey Burford and Library Associate Dawn Frascella received the Silver Award for their work with Royal Palm School, an exceptional student education center, serving children with varying types and levels of special needs. The pair have been working with the school for more than seven years. They have attended school literacy functions and presented at P.L.U.S.S. (Parents Learning and Understanding Student’s Strengths) meetings.
At workshops, Buford and Frascella read stories, give tips for successful storytelling, and demonstrate a craft that ties the stories together. In addition, they present an overview of the services offered at the library and explain how to get a library card. They have also provided story times for the school’s aftercare program, which is sponsored by United Cerebral Palsy.
“I congratulate Ms. Burford and Ms. Frascella for this award. It recognizes the library’s role in the education of children and our commitment to connecting communities, inspiring thought and enriching lives,” said Library Director Doug Crane.
