Getting Started on the Computer:
This series of four classes is for those who have never used a
computer. Classes are slower paced and cover only the minimum skills
needed to use a computer. This training requires a commitment to
attend all four classes in the series, and to complete exercises
between the classes. See the class instructors for more information

Mousing: For those who have never used a mouse
device, or are not comfortable using one. This class teaches
how to use a computer mouse, and ways to practice with it
even it you don’t have a computer. 60 min. plus 30 min.

Windows Basics: Learn the basics of using computers
that have Microsoft’s Windows. Find out how to open and
close files, how to work with multiple windows, and how to
save a document. 60 min. plus 30 min. practice time.
Prerequisite: Basic Computers; experience using a mouse. |
Library Catalog. Find out how to locate items in the
library using the computer. This hands-on class, which gives
a good introduction to the library’s online catalog, is also
helpful to experienced users. 60 min. plus 60 min. practice

Basic Word Processing (MS Word):
Learn how to change a document’s format by aligning text,
changing fonts, and copying and moving text. 60 min. plus 30
min. practice time. Prerequisites: Windows Basics,
experience using a mouse. |
Browser Basics: Learn some tricks of surfing the Web
using the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. This class
supplements the Introductory Internet presentation. 60 min.
plus 30 min. practice time. Prerequisites: Mousing, Windows
Basics. Introductory Internet recommended. |

Web E-mail: Learn how to read and send e-mail using a
free web-based e-mail provider. 60 min. plus 30 min.

Web Search Tools: Learn how to find what you’re
looking for on the Internet using different web sites. 60
min. plus 30 min. practice time. Prerequisites: Mousing,

databases and search tools to find information on businesses
