The Palm Beach
County Library System has identified local, state, and federal
Internet resources of special interest to job hunters and career
changers. In addition to these websites, the Main Library has a
large selection of books on job hunting, job changing, resume
writing, career development strategies and company information
available in the Business Reference Center
and throughout the circulating collection. Printed Guides to this collection are available at the Business Reference Center, entitled Job Resources and Local Job Resources, is available at the Main Library Reference Center.

Computer Classes – A wide variety of computer training is available at our Main Library's computer center and in most branches. We offer free lecture-based learning classes and hands-on training. Classes for the computer novice as well as for the more advanced user are offered. Classes are offered in English as well as select Spanish and Creole. Job kiosks – Job kiosks with touch screens are available at the Main Library, West Boynton Branch, Jupiter Branch, Wellington Branch and Belle Glade Branch.

The Riley Guide is one of
the best internet career guidance sites. The Riley Guide is a
directory of employment and career information sources and services
on the Internet. It is primarily intended to provide instruction for
job seekers on how to use the Internet to their best advantage. The
Riley Guide leads job hunters through the many online sites and
services that may be useful during a job search. The site does not
post jobs or resumes.
The Wall
Street Journal's CareerJournal.com website
is considered one of the best Internet websites for executive and
professional career development and job-hunting. It includes
articles and career development resources as well as a searchable
database of position listings.
The Occupational Outlook Handbook is the Federal
Government's source of career information, published by the Bureau
of Labor Statistics. The Handbook describes what workers do on the job, working
conditions, the training and education needed, earnings, and
expected job prospects in a wide range of occupations. The Internet
version allows you to search various combinations of job and career
information. The print version is available at all the library's
locations.

Federal
Government Job Announcements are listed at USAJobs the Federal
Government's Employment Information website. The site features job
vacancy information and services for both job seekers and employers.
This site is the United States Government's official source of job
and employment information.
State Employment Service Sites provide career and labor market
information for each state. These links also provide additional
resources available in each state and may assist users in making
career choices. Note that some of these sites require a user id and
password. Labor Market Information includes occupation and
employment wages, and other information affecting the world of work.
Workforce Florida
A web site built to provide people seeking jobs in Florida with the
most up-to-date information available on job openings, training and
education programs and labor market statistics. To locate a

Job Services
for People with Disabilities
Palm Beach Habilitation Center is
a private not-for-profit organization located in Lake Worth which
provides therapeutic training programs, community job placement,
employment, residential, recreational and senior activity programs
for individuals with mental, emotional and physical disabilities.
Their programs include career development, job placement services
and job coaching services.
The Able Trust is the Florida
Governor's Alliance for the employment of citizens with
disabilities. The Ability Forum Job Bank link includes a Job Center
as well as other Internet resources chosen to help people with
disabilities overcome barriers through the power of technology.
The
Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration's disAbility Online website includes a range of information on
federal regulations, technical assistance and programs that support
the needs of people with disabilities in the workplace.
JobAccess.org provides a
dedicated system for finding employment for people with disabilities
nationwide.

private, non-profit organization charged with crafting and
overseeing a workforce development strategy that is responsive to
the needs and concerns of both Palm Beach County employers and job

Palm Beach Community
College Crossroads/Connections Program provides career
development assistance for women in transition. Services range
from crisis counseling, financial counseling, and child-care to job
and career development programs.
