Library Expansion Program Update |
Belle Glade Branch Library: |
Ground breaking for the new Belle Glade Branch Library, to be located at 725 NW 4th Street, Belle Glade, will take place on Tuesday, November 22 at 10 a.m. The features of the new branch include:

The new Belle Glade Branch will be a 17,000 square feet facility

Computer Access: 22 Internet and word processing computers: in the adult area, 16 in the children’s area and 8 in the young adult area. Library catalog computers will be available throughout the building. Free wireless access will be available throughout the building.

Meeting room space: a 3,000 square foot community meeting room, a conference room, and a separate room for children’s programs.

A variety of materials: dedicated areas for CDs, DVDs, new arrivals, as well as books, newspapers, and magazines.

Study space: quiet space including 4 private study rooms and a larger group study room.

Customer service: express check out stations will allow for fast, efficient service.

Space for young people: two-themed areas designed especially for children and young adults with ample room for materials and comfortable seating.

Study carrels and lounge seating areas throughout the branch.

Special features include a family restroom with child-sized facilities.

Accessibility: Exterior walk-up returns, wider aisles, and lower shelves to allow for easier retrieval of items, increased lighting levels, incorporating both natural and artificial sources, covered walkway leading to the entrance.

Attractive environment: beautifully landscaped.
An Art in Public Places mosaic floor medallion highlighting Belle Glade’s rich past and promising future will be installed in the lobby.

West Boynton Branch Library: |
The West Boynton Branch Library, located at 9451 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, closed on Sunday, August 7 at 5 p.m., for renovations. The renovations include:
- An updated color scheme with coordinated upholstery fabric, carpeting, and artwork to create a fresh and inviting environment.
- Replacing outdated fixtures with new shelving that has been designed especially to accommodate more audiovisual materials
- Existing seating and shelving will be refurbished and rearranged to give the locations a more open feel.
- Streamlined computer stations, which take up less floor space, allowing for additional computer terminals.
- Upgrading the wiring for faster internet access
- Installing automated materials return and sorting equipment
While the Branch is closed patrons are encouraged to use the nearby Palm Beach County Library System (PBCLS) locations: Hagen Ranch Road (14350 Hagen Ranch Road, Delray Beach), Greenacres Branch (3750 Jog Road, Greenacres) or Lantana Road Branch (4020 Lantana Road, Lake Worth). |

Branch details:
- 30,000-square-foot facility on Orange Blvd. just east of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road.
- Computer Access: 68 Internet and word processing computers:
54 in the adult area, 6 in the children’s area and 8 in the young adult area.
- Library catalog computers that will be available throughout the building.
- Laptop computers for training will be provided in the meeting room.
- Free wireless access will be available throughout the building.
- Meeting room space: 3 meeting rooms – a large room accommodating
165 people, a conference room and a separate room for children’s programs.
- A variety of materials: dedicated areas for CDs, DVDs, new arrivals, in
addition to books, newspapers, and magazines.
- Study space: quiet space including 4 private study rooms and a larger group
study room.
- Customer service: express check out stations will be available to allow for

Main Library: |
The Main Library, located at 3650 Summit Blvd., West Palm Beach, is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, September 24 with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 9:30 a.m.
The library closed on September 12 at 5 p.m., for renovations. The project includes paint, carpet, relocating the Information Desk and the Teen area, reconfiguring the Circulation Workroom, and adding a restroom in the Children’s area. The air conditioning and portions of the roof will be replaced.
Some of the materials and special services available only at the Main Library will be temporarily located at the Lantana Road Branch. For more information about these services, please call 561-233-2600.
Main Library patrons are encouraged to use the nearby Palm Beach County Library System (PBCLS) locations: Lantana Road Branch (4020 Lantana Rd., Lake Worth), Wellington Branch (1951 Royal Fern Dr., Wellington) or the Okeechobee Blvd. Branch (5689 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach).
Administrative functions will operate from the Summit Blvd. facility while the public portion of the building is closed for renovations.
The $2.2 million renovation is the thirteenth project in the Library Expansion Program (LEP) II since 2006. Funding for the LEP II comes from a $55 million Bond Referendum approved by voters in 2002. |

Greenacres Branch Library: |
The Greenacres Branch is now reopened!
Renovation Details:
- The branch features an updated color scheme.

The Gardens Branch is now reopened!
Renovation details:

The Gardens Branch will be expanded from 24,000 square feet to 40,000 square feet.

Additional Internet and word processing computers in the adult, children, and teen areas, in addition free Wi-Fi access and library catalog computers will be available throughout the building.

Existing meeting room space will be refurbished.

New shelving to allow for more DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks.

Dedicated rooms for quiet study including a group study room.

The Glades Road Branch is now reopened.
Renovation Details:

Increased access to computers: Additional Internet and word processing computers in the adult and children’s area. Laptop computers available in the meeting room for hands-on computer training classes.

Larger collection: new shelving to allow for more DVDs, CDs and audiobooks.

Attractive interior redesign: interior spaces will be redecorated to provide comfortable seating areas and reading tables.
