Maximum Willing to Pay

The Palm Beach County Library provides free Interlibrary Loan Service. Through our membership in several resource-sharing networks with reciprocal agreements we can obtain most materials free of charge. However, some lending libraries may charge a fee to borrow or photocopy materials. Materials for which there may be a charge will not be supplied unless the willingness to pay the lending fee is indicated. The lending charges may be $10 to $20 per loan.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified by the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproductions are not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
