What is the PBC Library App?
The PBC Library app is an application for your phone or other mobile devices that gives you quick and easy to access to the Palm Beach County Library System while you are on the go! Search the library catalog, manage your account, and access in-demand library resources, information, and services instantly with your Android or iOS device.
The app offers features such as:
- Search the Catalog - Search for materials by title, author, or subject and place holds on interesting items.
- Place Holds - Place requests for materials you want to pick up at the location of your choice.
- Manage Your Account - Keep track of your library account from anywhere! Manage your checkouts, holds, fees and other account information.
- Barcode Scanner - Use your device's camera to scan the barcode on a book or other items at a friend's house or store to see if you can pick it up at your library.
- Linked Library Accounts - Add one or more family member's accounts to manage their checkouts, holds, and fees alongside your own.
- Barcode Generator - Always have your card with you! Generate a digital copy of your library card and any linked accounts for use at our self-service stations or service desks.
- Nearest Library Locator - Need to find the location nearest you? The app will help you locate the nearest library location quickly.

FAQ
- Why does the app not accepting my library card number?
- Some users have seen the app require the 'D' or ‘E’ in the library card number to be entered lowercase. A second issue that we frequently see is people typing in the wrong 2nd character. It is the number zero or one, not the letters 'O,' ‘I,’ or ‘L.’
- Why does the app ask to use my location?
- The app uses your location for the “Nearest Libraries” feature. If you disable the use of location services, it will only list the branches in alphabetical order. Other features in the future may also use require the use of location services.
- The barcode scanner isn't working on this item.
- If the barcode scanner doesn’t identify the item, try searching by the title. The barcode scanner only searches for the specific item that you scanned and won’t find other items with the same title or author. The barcode scanner also only functions on Books, Films, Music CDs and Audiobooks.
- Is there a way to suspend all my holds at once?
- Yes. On the holds page, you can use the ‘All holds’ button and then click ‘Suspend Hold’ to suspend all holds at once. You can also resume your holds, cancel your holds, and change the pickup location the same way.
- Is there a way to renew all my checkouts at once?
- Yes. On the checkouts page, you can click ‘Renew All’ and it will renew all of your items immediately.
- Is there a way to change the order of my checkouts/holds? Is there a way to move suspended holds to the bottom?
- Currently the app sorts checkouts by the nearest return date. Holds are sorted alphabetically by name. There is not a way to change the sorting order at this time. We expect to see this in a future version of the app.
- Can I read eBooks through the app?
- No. But if you have the Hoopla or CloudLibrary app on your device, you can click the link in the PBCLS app to be taken to the correct page in the proper app.
- I'm not able to see any information on my Linked Accounts.
- This issue has been resolved as of the December 2018 update. If you are still having this issue after updating, trying removing the linked account(s) and adding them again.
- How do I access My Lists through the app?
- You currently cannot access My Lists through the app, you need to use a computer web browser. This is another feature we hope will be added in the future. We apologize for the inconvenience.
- What does this mean for BookMyne?
- The library stopped supporting BookMyne on March 1, 2019. BookMyne functionality ceased as of June 2022.
