Book Life - Celebrating All Things Books

This year, the Palm Beach County Library System is hosting Book Life for those who love books and enjoy experiences that bring books to life. The nine books selected for Book Life bring together the diverse aspects of books – with topics from dining, architecture, crime, culture, friendship, fishing, farming to falling in love – the series offers something for everyone.

For each book we will be hosting events in the Libraries and at locations throughout the community that relate back to the books.

Be a part of the inaugural season of the Book Life series and help us celebrate Book Life and our unique community.

Quick Byte: Teen Book Finder

If you have a teen in your family (or you are a teen), then you know how difficult it can be to find the perfect book at the library. Teen Book Finder, an app developed by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association, can help solve that problem. Titles include books selected by teachers and librarians across the country, with new "hot picks" featured each day.

This simple to navigate app allows users to search for books by title, author, genre, year, award or the booklist it appeared on. Once a title is identified, the Find It! button will connect to a WorldCat search that will display nearby libraries that includes the book in their collections (as well as the book’s format, including audiobooks and e-books). Users can also mark their favorite books to create a reading list or a list of books already completed, and, if desired, the information can be shared via social media using Facebook or Twitter.

Teen Book Finder is available for free for both iOS and Android devices. So if you’re looking for some quality reading for teens, check this app out, and take the mystery out of choosing great books!
