10 Things A Research Librarian Can Help You Accomplish
For answers, just click one of the following topics:
Find Your Ancestors.
Discovering who you are and where your family came from is very popular and our librarians have the skills to help you use online tools like Ancerstry.com Library Edition and Heritage Quest. You can also visit the Palm Beach County Genealogy Society which is located at the Main Library in West Palm Beach.
Start A Business.
Starting a new business can be a daunting experience. There are so many things to consider – do you really need a business plan, what about marketing, are you eligible to be a minority owned business? Our business librarian can walk you through the steps and find examples of business and marketing plans. Librarians can help you conduct research to find out if there is a demand in the area for the type of business you are thinking of starting.
Use A Computer.
Computer training is available at many of our locations to help you learn to use a computer. Classes for novices who need to learn the basics of using a mouse or setting up email are offered as are classes for more advance users to improve your Excel skills or to set up a Google Drive for file sharing. Our digital media lab, the CreationStation, is located at the Main Library and you can use the lab to create music, make a podcast or film a commercial.
Apply For A Job.
Finding a job has become easier for those who have access to a computer and are comfortable using the internet. Whether you are a young adult applying for your first job or a worker returning to the workforce library staff can show you resources to help you land a job, write a cover letter or simply navigate to the website and fill out an application.
